Frequently Asked Questions

What is a WISP or Wireless Internet Service Provider?

WISPs use fixed wireless broadband technology to deliver the same high speeds and service of traditional broadband providers but delivered wirelessly as opposed to through buried cables.

Typically, a small antenna is placed on your home or business that receives a direct signal from a tower near by. Unlike technology used for cellular data, the wireless connection from your business “end point” and the tower allows for fast reliable service via a fixed wireless connection. This prevents the interrupted data experienced by cell phone users that often happen as signals bounce from one tower to another.

How Long have you been in business?

We have been in business for 10 years. We provide service to hundreds of homes and businesses in your area.

How reliable is your service?

Our technology allows for 99.9% uptime, meaning as close to constant as possible, which is the same guarantee offered by large tech companies like Google, Microsoft, and Social Media sites.

How is a your service different than Cellular Hotspots or Mobile Broadband?

While "mobile broadband" sounds very similar to "wireless broadband" the technologies are very different. The wireless connections offered by us deliver a high speed signal (up to 300 Mbps in some areas) directly to your business via one fixed connection, rather than by piggy backing off a number of cellular towers in the area.

To get the portability required in a cell phone, the technology sacrifices reliability and signal strength. Service quality suffers as your data bounces from one tower to another and can get dropped the farther you are from the tower and during periods of bad weather such as rain and fog.

How is your service different than Satellite Internet?

Satellite technology has similar reach but suffers from data lags called “latency” as the signals literally travel to space. Data usage caps are common and costs are higher than our services.

Is your service secure?

We use WPA2 256-bit Encryption which is  highly secure.  It is as secure as Cable, DSL, or Cell Phone Internet Access.

Can I hook up more than one computer to my connection?

Yes. Our service will support multiple computers.

What speed to I need in order to stream movies?

Here are the speeds required for some popular streaming sites.

Netflix:

1 Mbps for viewing on a laptop computer. While you can stream Netflix at speeds of 1 Mb/s, the quality will be grainy on a large screen, much like watching an old VHS movie
2 Mbps for viewing standard definition video (480p) on a TV
4 Mbps for viewing high-def video (720p, 1080p)
5 Mbps or more for the best audio and video experience
15 Mbps for 4K streaming (but 25mb/s is preferred). Also recommended is a 4K Ultra TV with a HEVC decoder

Vudu:

1.0-2.3 Mbps for standard definition video
2.3-4.5 Mbps for 720p, high-def video
4.5-9 Mbps for full high definition 1080p resolution video and high definition audio
9 Mbps or more for 3-D HD movies
11 Mbps or more for 4K streaming with access to Dolby Vision HDR

Hulu and Hulu Plus:

1.5 Mbps to stream standard definition content
3 Mbps to stream 720p high-def
6 Mbps to stream 1080p HD content
13 Mbps for 4K Ultra HD videos
